SELECTEES FOR THE 2023 MILITARY SPOUSE LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM ANNOUNCED

SAN ANTONIO, Texas – Military Spouse Advocacy Network (MSAN), with presenting sponsor Car Donation Foundation’s Vehicles for Veterans, is delighted to announce the 50 military spouses selected for the 2023 cohort of the Military Spouse Leadership Development Program (MSLDP).

To view a complete list of selected participants, including their photos, bios, and location information, please visit www.militaryspouseadvocacynetwork.org/msldp23-selectees.

The tremendous success of MSLDP’s 2021 and 2022 cohorts encouraged more than 900 military spouses to pursue one of 50 vacancies in 2023. Today, MSLDP graduates continue to apply learned leadership skills in their personal and professional lives, volunteer work, and within their military circles.

Selectees were asked to submit professional resumes, personal references, and to engage in MSAN’s Mentorship-HUB. Candidates were selected based on their personal and professional commitment to leadership, exemplary community improvement, dedication to lifelong learning, and a strong desire to influence their communities positively.

The cohort will complete a virtual four-month training program focused on learning the fundamentals of leadership, service, advocacy, and mentorship from world-renowned institutions and professionals, impactful voices in the community, and support from MSLDP alum. Training and certifications are provided by:

  • Harvard University, National Preparedness Leadership Initiative- Certificate

  • Psych Hub- Mental Health Ally Certificate

Verenice Castillo, MSAN’s Founder & CEO, shared her excitement about MSLDP’s 2023 cohort:

“Learning and growing leadership skills is an important step towards personal and professional development. It's exciting to see this new cohort of wonderful military spouses eager to learn, contribute, and make a difference. We are honored to receive Vehicles For Veterans’ support and commitment to join this effort and provide future leaders in our communities with the fundamentals to be successful.”

From Loren Dorshow, Executive Director at Car Donation Foundation d/b/a Vehicles For Veterans:

“At Vehicles For Veterans, we strongly support MSAN’s mission to strengthen communities through the amazing resource of military spouses,” Loren Dorshow, executive director of Vehicles For Veterans, said. “Now anyone can help support amazing veterans charities and organizations like MSAN, and help veterans and their families by donating an unwanted vehicle.”

The first two MSLDP cohorts were overwhelmingly successful thanks to support from our steadfast partners. This year, Defense Credit Union Council, Caliber Home Loans and the Bob Woodruff Foundation joined the growing collaboration. The popularity and demand for MSLDP continue to grow, so MSAN is seeking additional funding to offer this training to more spouses throughout the year.
